Guilt

Too long in hiding

Too long stored away

Secrets are kept at a distance

Far away, where no one will find them

We both know what happened

How and why

And now I live with it

Every day

But it’s not guilt, mind you

For that’s a companion

I choose to hide also

Alone with our secret

At the bottom

Of that old abandoned well
