The Soldier He Needed To Be

P. was a good guy at heart

He had a big heart

He was what you’d call a giver

But, every man has a breaking point

A limit

A line that shouldn’t be crossed

And sometimes

When a man is pushed hard enough

He will defend his line

Stand up and shout out

Telling all, they have gone too far

He will rise to the occasion

Like a soldier

Ready to fight for what he believes in

Ready to be the soldier he believes he needs to be

These are never good times

No man secretly desires these days

But, for tiny bits of self-worth

We will sometimes do

The most remarkable things

P. won’t be like this forever

A close will come

And all things will slowly go back

To the way they were

But while those days are here

The will to be that soldier

Is hard to contend with

A facade that’s hard to hold up

Keep holding, P.

Keep holding

Ruins Of Solitude

With all the construction

To the area I live in

They are slowly taking

Everything from me

All my hidden spots

All my places of solitude

My get-aways

My heaven

I have to keep traveling

Further and further

To find the same treasures

And I spend less time

With them all

There’s not many I can walk to, anymore

A bike is usually required

I find cars are impersonal

For venturing to these nirvanas

No time to think

None to plan my ways

Of spending my time

Wasting my time

In my little bits of heaven

Which are slowly being torn down

Built up

And slowly being jettisoned

Further and further away
