City Streets

Longing for companionship

I slip into the night

Down the city streets

When I realize

She is just as lonely as I am

Sincere, Obsessive, Inspiring And Sometimes Crazed

I love you

And I listen to what you have to say

Things you mention resonate within me

They often stay for way too long

But I guess that’s just how I’m wired

Sincere, obsessive, inspiring and sometimes crazed

Some of your more memorable descriptions

Don’t always like the sound

But there is truth to what you say

And I keep your words

Close to my heart

So if you never remember

Anything else I say to you

Remember

I love you

Closer

They’re getting closer and they know it

I stay here motionless

In the tall grass

I can’t seem to move

I find it hard to breathe

I can hear footsteps

And a low murmur of voices

I can see their flashlights waving

They’re closing in

One by one

They slowly tramp by

Until I’m the one furthest behind

From back here,

From this vantage point

I just might get away

This Room

This rooms seems a little too big

Too big for all the shit

The shit I have collected

Collected, then forgotten about

There’s too much to dirty

Too much to clean

Memories get too easily lost

Lost like a phone number

Or a set of keys

Maybe it needs more furniture

To occupy the the void

The darkness

Of this room

Which is just too big

Stormy Seas

I rock back and forth

To and fro

Side to side

My sail has snapped

The rudder is gone

Any controlling agent

Or influence over direction

Has left my grasp for good

In the galley, plates smash

Pots and pans swing in the toss

The hull has taken water

Through the shattered forward hatch

I’m now locked in the head

Forced to stay

Until Poseidon’s blinding rage

Finally calls me down

The Colors Of Your Eyes

The colors of your eyes

Are the softest baby blue

When you open them

In the early morning light

The colors of your eyes

Are the deepest forest green

As we move through the forest

The colors of your eyes

Are like pulsars in space

When you get confused

By my many wrongful doings

The colors of your eyes

Are red as blood

When I fuel your fire inside

With the agitation

I’m so good at supplying

Rainy Night

Lightning flashes bright across the sky

I build a fire to keep me warm

But the damp logs just smoke and won’t ignite

It’s a cognac kind of night

Just a smidge to warm the soul

Of course, there’s none in this house

The rains are coming a bit too hard

No sense in trying to venture out

So I’ll pick another nectar

Maybe curl up with a book

Or relive the past through old photographs

Either way

It’s a rainy night

And nights like this

Seem to last forever

Grey Area

Boredom consumes me

I can’t find peace

In this restless house

Everything looks askew, dirty and out-of-place

Kind of what I imagine purgatory would look and feel like

I think I should go for a walk

Get some air

Try to clear my head

Of this grey area

I seem perpetually stuck in

The wind is stronger than usual

I find that no matter the direction

I’m heading straight into its arms

The sky gives off a grey-ish tint

Reminding me of the thoughts I’m running from

I think I’ll wonder home

Fix a drink

And take a nap

Hoping when I wake

I can start

Again
